Newly elected MP for Milton Keynes North Ben Everitt has cast his first vote in Parliament and delivered on his election promise to ‘Get Brexit Done’.
The EU Withdrawal Agreement Bill was passed by 358 to 234 – a majority of 124 – whilst a motion for the timetable to get the bill into law was also passed.
Ben passed through the House Of Commons ‘Aye’ lobby for the first time to cast his maiden vote and ensure the country leaves the EU on January 31.
He said: “It’s been an historic day here in Westminster as Parliament has finally delivered on the mandate the country gave us three years ago and has brought an end to the constant delay.
“So many people on the doorsteps were telling me they just wanted to move on and I’m glad we’ll now be able to do that and focus on other priorities such as the NHS, the environment, policing and schools.
“To people who voted Leave and Remain I will work as hard as possible to ensure I do the best for my constituents in Milton Keynes North. It’s time to bring the country back together as we take a huge step into the future.”
