Ben Everitt MP and Iain Stewart MP have hosted their second Parliamentary Export Programme in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DiT) to support Milton Keynes businesses with export opporunities.
The Milton Keynes MPs are keen to take advantage of the new trade opportunities the UK now has since leaving the European Union and the event was well attended by local businesses.
Local businesses heard from Ben Raby, the Head of Department for DiT South East, David Ryan, an International Trade Advisor for DiT, Vicky Hlomuka, a Growth Hub Manager for SEMLEP and Raphael Tomy from the Milton Keynes and Northants Chamber of Commerce. Val Jonas, the CEO of Risk Decisions and Lyn Disley, the Communications Manager for Cambridge Precision are both export champions for DiT and shared their experiences of trading around the world.
The Department for International Trade offers one to one advice for small local businesses from expert trade advisors as well as signposting access to export opportunities and providing overseas market research and information support.
They also provide a number of virtual seminars and events on topics including virtual trade missions, optimising websites for international trade, raising trade finance and brand innovation strategies.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, commented: "I absolutely love being able to host these Parliamentary Export Programme events for Milton Keynes businesses because our local businesses have the talent and innovation to export around the world we just need to be able to provide them with that link to get them off the ground.
"It was brilliant to have so many businesses from across MK attending the event and I hope to see many of them exporting internationally in the not too distant future!"
