Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has signed a letter calling for MPs salaries to be frozen instead of a proposed rise.
The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) sets MPs pay and is currently consulting on a 4.1% pay increase.
But Dehenna Davison, the Tory MP for Bishop Auckland has received the support of more than 50 colleagues, including local MP Ben, in calling for the salary rise to be scrapped.
Ben said, “The whole country has sacrificed so much this year throughout the coronavirus pandemic and with so many people are living with uncertainty in their lives.
“We all need to come together and it would be wrong for us as MPs to receive a pay rise so I hope IPSA will agree to scrap the proposed increase.”
