Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has congratulated Newport Pagnell Town FC on their victory in the Buildbase FA Vase final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon (22/05).
The Swans beat Littlehampton Town 3-0 in the final with goals scored by Kieran Barnes and Ben Shepherd (2) - the former of which was a stunning strike from outside the penalty area to put them in front.
Their run to the final began back in September with a 1-0 victory over Harpenden Town and there were several huge games along the way including penalty shootout victories over Leighton Town, Buckland Athletic and then in the semi-final against Hamworthy United, with goalkeeper Martin Conway scoring from the spot in all three.
Ben has written a letter to the football club to congratulate them on their victory which saw club captains Ben Ford and Adam Pryke lift the FA Vase at the national football team amidst wild celebrations from the 7,000 travelling Newport Pagnell Town supporters dressed in green.
The local MP said: "I want to say a huge congratulations to everybody involved in the football club from the players and coaches, to the volunteers and supporters, on what is a truly fantastic achievement which has brought so much pride and a real sense of community to Newport Pagnell."
