Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, is delighted that local projects in Wolverton and Central Milton Keynes have received funding from the Department for Transport through a London Northwestern scheme.
Grants of up to £10,000 were made available through the latest round of LNR’s “Your Community, Your Fund” scheme aimed at inspiring people to get involved with the railway and supporting established groups with projects which benefit both rail passengers and local communities. This is funded by the Department for Transport.
Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council is benefitting from the funding to deliver a new signage project to increase the directional signage for passengers, with the aim to increase commuters and visitors to the station and town.
Investment into Milton Keynes Central train station was provided to improve cycling infrastructure, new landscaping and biodiversity enhancements, installing smart bins and better recycling facilities, improved wayfinding signage and better waiting shelters.
And funding for the Winter Night Shelter MK, now UnityMK, helped provide homeless people with food, clothing, other essentials, and to help people find more permanent accommodation and work.
