Thames Valley Police will be able to recruit 244 new police officers in 2022/23 as part of the Government's commitment to putting 20,000 more officers on our streets, in a move praised by local MP Ben Everitt.
There are currently 273 more officers on the streets of Thames Valley since the plan was announced back in 2019, and that number could now almost double over the space of the next year thanks to the latest allocation from the Government.
Thames Valley Police will also receive an extra £15 million in grant funding from the Government compared to 2021, taking the total to £285 million. Local MP has been listening to local residents on crime issues affecting them, and recently sent out a survey to constituents to understand their views, and has been campaigning to get more police on the streets of Milton Keynes.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said: "I'm delighted Thames Valley Police are receiving funding to recruit an additional 244 officers across the next year. People in Milton Keynes want more police on our streets and that's what they'll be getting thanks to this Conservative Government."
