Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has shared his delight after new figures showed Thames Valley Police have recruited an extra 522 officers as part of the Conservative Government's uplift programme.
In 2019, the Government announced plans to recruit 20,000 more police officers across the country and remain on course to do so as the latest numbers at the end of September hit 15,300.
Thames Valley Police, the force which covers Milton Keynes, has seen a rise to 4,772 officers which is also hundreds more than when the Conservatives first came to power in 2010.
Ben Everitt MP said: "I'm delighted that the Government's police officer uplift programme is continuing to make significant process as we deliver on our promise to recruit 20,000 more police officers.
"When I stood for election in 2019 I pledged 183 new officers by 2021. We delivered that. I pledged 600 extra officers by the end of this Parliament. We are well on our way to delivering that too."
