Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has joined Tamils for their traditional annual Thai Pongal celebration in Parliament.
Thai Pongal falls in January every year and reflects the long tradition of the Tamils to whom farming was a traditional way of life. It is an occasion for families to come together to celebrate the prosperity arising from a bountiful harvest.
Ben attended the event hosted by the British Tamils Forum in Parliament and Theresa Villiers MP and Northern Ireland Minister Steve Baker MP.
Traditional Tamil food and drinks were served and a number of speeches were given by guests.
Ben Everitt MP said: "I was delighted to attend the Thai Pongal celebration in Parliament and meet some of the wonderful members of the Tamil community.
"I want to wish Tamils in Milton Keynes and across the country a very very happy Thai Pongal."
