Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, paid a visit to meet staff at The Body Shop in thecentre:mk as part of the #BounceBackMK campaign to support the re-opening of the economy.
On Friday (14/05), Ben met with the team including store manager Charley to hear about their experiences of lockdown, furlough and how the company had been supporting End Youth Homelessness, with the Milton Keynes store itself raising £2,000 for the charity.
Ben was delighted to hear how the business had supported its staff throughout lockdown by keeping in regular contact and focusing on mental health, while the store has introduced "Self Love Declarations" which is all about being positive and where you can write down what makes you feel good.
He was also shown how the store has prepared to allow customers to continue to use their interactive sections such as trying body butter in a COVID-secure way.
Ben said: "It was wonderful to meet Charley and the lovely team at The Body Shop in thecentre:mk as we continue to see MK bounce back and hear about how they're putting customers at the heart of what they do, and especially how well supported they were by the business throughout the pandemic.
"Re-opening our economy in a COVID-secure way has not only been vital for businesses, but also for the incredible retail workers across MK and for shoppers who have missed being able to enjoy the friendly atmosphere and experiences of places like The Body Shop."
As part of #BounceBackMK, Ben is getting out and meeting as many businesses as possible across his Milton Keynes North constituency to understand how the experiences of the last year have affected them, how they can be supported in the future and to promote them to help rebuild our local economy.
