Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, met with Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt on Wednesday (28th February) to urge him to prioritise 'people, families and businesses' in Milton Keynes ahead of next week's Budget.
Jeremy Hunt will set out the Spring Budget in the House of Commons next Wednesday (6th March) and met with local MP Ben, as well as Buckingham MP Greg Smith, Witney & West Oxfordshire MP Robert Courts and former Prime Minister and Maidenhead MP Theresa May for discussions on their priorities.
Ben was keen to ensure that lower taxes and higher productivity are on the agenda at the Budget to ensure local people and businesses are able to keep more of the money they earn.
He said: "The Conservative Party is the party for working people and businesses. That is why I stressed to the Chancellor the importance of delivering lower taxes and higher productivity to ensure local people, families and businesses are at the heart of next week's Budget.
"The Government has consistently supported those most in need through the economic difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Putin's war on Ukraine and I hope we can do more to ensure we ease the burden on families and businesses across Milton Keynes."
