Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, visited W H Barley in Old Wolverton on Friday (10/09) to meet their team and discuss issues such as the ongoing HGV driver shortage.
Ben was shown around the site and had a meeting with founder and chairman Peter Barber to talk about the impact of the COVID pandemic, driver shortages and future plans.
He said: "I was really glad to be able to meet a local haulage company to discuss the issues they're having at the moment and how the Government can help overcome these issues.
"We absolutely need to make it more attractive and easier to get into the industry and I'm pleased to see up to 50,000 more HGV driving tests will be made available each year thanks to Government action to streamline the testing process.
"It was also lovely to meet the W H Barley team and see the engaging, friendly atmosphere the family-run business has created."
