Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed a Government funding boost for adult social care in Milton Keynes.
The Bedfordshire, Luton And Milton Keynes ICB will receive £399,470 through the Accelerating Reform Fund and £1,099,892 through the Adult Social Care Technology Fund.
Funding from the Accelerating Reform Fund aims to expand a ‘trusted assessor’ model to enable staff from partner voluntary community and social enterprise organisations to promote awareness and carry out Care Act assessments, as well as expanding the Shared Lives scheme to support a wider range of individuals and increase availability of support across each local authority area.
The Adult Social Care Technology Fund investment will be used to scale technology to improve pain identification and management and implement technology that supports wellbeing.
Ben Everitt MP said: "I'm pleased by this extra investment into adult social care locally as part of the Government's vision for social care reform.
"I look forward to see how this new innovation and funding can help benefit our local communities."
Minister for Social Care Helen Whately said: "We’re sticking to our plan to deliver ambitious social care reforms that will ensure everyone gets the care they need and help even more people to live independently.
"Alongside our workforce reforms, we’re supporting the sector by backing innovations which will make our care system fit for the future and provide vital support to our selfless unpaid carers.
"I’ve seen first hand how Shared Lives helps people who need care, and I’m delighted this funding will scale up support and make an even bigger difference for more people across the country."
