Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the news 14,663 affordable homes will be built in the South East for young people and families.
Both MPs have campaigned on providing more appropriate, affordable housing for Milton Keynes to help young people into home ownership while ensuring there is sufficient infrastructure and avoiding reckless overexpansion.
The scheme is being backed by £946.8 million of funding here in the South East, and £8.6 billion nationwide as part of a landmark moment for the Affordable Homes Programme.
The new affordable homes will help more young people and families get on the housing ladder, building on other schemes from the Conservative Government to help first-time buyers, including First Homes– offering new homes at a 30 per cent discount on the open market value– and the 95% mortgage guarantee scheme – which helps first-time buyers secure a mortgage with just a 5% deposit.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said: “Affordable homes are the key to ending the housing crisis to this new Government announcement is extremely welcome here in Milton Keynes.
“We must now make sure we are building the right homes in the appropriate places to ensure young people and families can get onto the housing ladder.”
