Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has shared his delight after Milton Keynes was awarded £1.3 million by the Conservative Government to support adult numeracy skills across the city.
The funding from the Government's new UK-wide Multipy programme twill equip hundreds of thousands of adults with functional numeracy skills to improve their employment prospects.
This could mean free tutoring, digital training and flexible courses to help adults with low-level maths skills get back into work, as well as measures to get more young people into high-skilled jobs.
Multiply will offer adults who do not already have a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in Maths or equivalent, and need to improve their numeracy, free flexible courses that fit around their lives. Courses are expected to be available this autumn in person or online, at work or at home, and either on a part time or intensive basis. These courses will equip adults across the UK with the numeracy skills they need to fulfil their potential.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, commented: "This is absolutely fantastic news for Milton Keynes and shows this Conservative Government's commitment to levelling up across the whole of the country.
"With more than one million pounds funding from Multiply on top of the £3 million also announced today from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund I am delighted Milton Keynes is receiving such vital investment to support our local communities."
