Local MPs Ben Everitt and Iain Stewart have welcomed a further £870,443 of Government funding to tackle rough sleeping in Milton Keynes.
The money follows an extra £1,724,847 from the Government earlier this month to help MK Council manage homelessness pressures and support those who are at risk of homelessness.
The MK MPs have met with local and national homelessness charities in recent weeks to discuss how they can help, while Ben has joined the All Party Parliamentary Group for Ending Homelessness.
Ben commented, “This extra money is extremely welcome as it will help support the most vulnerable people in our society.
“I’m absolutely determined to end rough sleeping, and I was especially pleased to see the Government bring forward its target of achieving this from 2027 to 2024 at the last election.”
Iain added, “Action to help rough sleepers often require many agencies to work together, as their needs are more complex than just housing. This extra funding will help local groups extend their support.”
