Milton Keynes MPs Ben Everitt and Iain Stewart have hosted a Department for International Trade (DiT) event to help businesses across MK access export markets across the world.
The Milton Keynes North and South Parliamentary Export Programme webinar event was held on Tuesday (20/07) with international trade experts and local trade champion Shalom Lloyd, from Naturally Tribal Skincare, were among the speakers.
Naturally Tribal Skincare are an environmentally friendly skincare business, built on sustainability and ethical sourcing, and they help to improve the lives of women across Africa.
Speaking at the event Ben said: "We can be Global MK. Milton Keynes has the opportunity to be at the heart of Global Britain. We've spoken about CPTPP which is currently a Trans-Pacific Partnership but when the UK joins it, it becomes global.
"Our trade deals allow us to access data, digital, services and goods in markets that are really exciting and growing - and these are perfect for Milton Keynes which is one of the most productive parts of the UK, as well as the innovation with have with driverless cars, e-scooters delivery robots and electric cars.
"We can take that global and get Foreign Direct Investment into Milton Keynes with the help of the expertise from the Department for International Trade and our local trade experts."
MK businesses attending the event heard from Ben Raby, the Regional Director at DiT, and Graham Zebedee, one of DiT's chief negotiators, on how businesses can benefit from the UK-Japan Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as well as Angus Murray on how businesses can access free support from DIT.
