Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, visited the bp pulse headquarters in Linford Wood to learn more about their plans to support the ongoing switch to electric vehicle usage in the UK.
Ben met with Akira Kirton, the Chief Executive of bp pulse, along with other members of the team and was given a tour of their purpose-built facility which includes office and production space. The team on site are involved in the assembly of both public charging points and home charging points.
In 2019, bp pusle opened a universal rapid charging hub at the Milton Keynes Coachway, near Broughton, which was the largest in the country and moved to their new Linford Wood HQ in 2020.
Ben Everitt MP said: "The Government is absolutely committed to building a greener future for the United Kingdom with plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030 and I'm delighted businesses such as BP Pulse are ensuring we have the infrastructure in place to support the switch.
"With rapid charging points becoming more easily accessible by the day those initial concerns such as range and charging anxiety should be a thing of the past.
"It's fantastic BP Pulse decided to make Milton Keynes the home for its headquarters as we continue to be a hub for the latest green technology and innovation thanks to continued Government investment and business confidence in our city."
According to recent statistics, Milton Keynes has more publicly available rapid electric car charging points per 100,000 population than anywhere else in the UK.
