Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, visited TastyMK in Broughton to show support for the local fish and chip shop industry amidst ongoing pressures.
There have been recent rises in the cost of the oils used to fry and there have been supply issues around white fish which has been in part caused by the sanctions on Russia due to the war on Ukraine. So Ben wrote to fish and chip shops across Milton Keynes North asking them if they would like to meet to discuss issues and also to show support for them.
On the visit to the Broughton-based shop Ben heard about those issues, as well as the drop in demand since the pandemic, and is encouraging residents to get out there and support local fish and chip shops survive these pressures.
Ben commented: "It was fantastic to visit TastyMK and try some of their delicious food. I am concerned about the ongoing pressures facing fish and chip shops and I really hope people will get out and support fish and chip shops across Milton Keynes and help them remain a staple of the British High Street."
