A further £3,585,033 has been confirmed for Milton Keynes as part of the Conservative Government’s Household Support Fund which supports families most in need.
This extra money given is being given to Milton Keynes City Council to provide further help the most vulnerable across the city with essential food and energy costs until 31 March 2024.
The council can decide how best to use the funding to help with the cost of essentials like groceries, toiletries, and warm clothes, as well as providing further support with energy bills.
Vulnerable households and families are encouraged to check the council website for details of support available.
The funding boost takes the total amount of funding for Milton Keynes through the Household Support Fund to almost £9 million.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said: “The rising cost of living across the world is impacting families here in Milton Keynes so this extra £3.5 million funding to support the most vulnerable with food, energy and other essentials is absolutely vital.
“The Government also increased the National Living Wage on 1st April to £10.42 an hour meaning thousands of the lowest paid workers in the city will be earning more from this week.
“The Prime Minister has been clear in his commitment to get inflation down and grow the economy, but until then this is the kind of support we need in MK to get people through difficult times.”
