Nine sports clubs across Milton Keynes have received Government funding to help them install new goalposts, floodlights and storage facilities.
Old Bradwell United have received a grant for goalposts, along with Great Linford, Stoke Hammond Youth, Bletchley Scot, Milton Keynes City, Shenley and Barleyhurst EMK.
Stony Stratford Town FC benefited from funding for storage facilities, while MK Wanderers, Shenley and Stoke Hammond Youth also received grants for portable floodlights.
The funding is part of the Government's Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme which is investing over £300 million between 2021 and 2025 to level up facilities across the whole of the UK.
This programme provides funding to make essential facility improvements, so that communities have a high-quality pitch to play on, and is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to levelling up all corners of the United Kingdom.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, said: "Grassroots sports clubs are often at the heart of local communities as we've seen recently with the success of Newport Pagnell Town FC so I'm delighted the Government is supporting other clubs across the city to help them encourage people to get active.
"By becoming more engaged in sport people can live healthier lives and be active within their local community."
