Following rumours around the future of the Post Office in Olney I wanted to provide the following update to reassure local residents:
16th August
A number of people contacted me after my last Post Office update about rumours it would eventually be replaced by a bakery in the new Morrisons.
I popped into the Morrisons last week and have now had confirmation from the store that they are fully committed to providing Post Office services and while the existing counter will be closed, it will be replaced with two positions at the main retail counter.
The service available to customers will remain the same and they have assured me all colleagues will be retained.
Any changes are likely to be towards the end of September.
1st August
I have been contacted by a number of residents following rumours Olney Post Office is set to close permanently.
After raising this directly with the Post Office they have confirmed this is just a temporary closure during the shop refurb and refranchise and the branch is due to re-open this Friday (4th August).
