Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, is delighted after the Government unveiled an energy bill support scheme for those who live on a boat as continuous cruisers.
Continuous cruisers who have not received last winter’s support either automatically or by applying, live on a boat as continuous cruisers and held a Canal & River Trust long-term boat licence without home mooring (continuous cruising) for a minimum of one day between 27 February 2023 and 31 May 2023 will receive a £600 voucher from the Government.
This will be made up of £400 from the Energy Bills Support Scheme and £200 from the Alternative Fuels Payment Scheme.
The local MP has previously written to ministers about this issue on behalf of constituents and is pleased support has now been put in place.
Ben Everitt MP said: "This is an issue I have been supporting local constituents on and I'm delighted the Government has now ensured people living on boats do not miss out on vital energy bills support available to the rest of the population."
