Following a visit to a local Tesco store, Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, is encouraging schools across Milton Keynes to apply to take part in the supermarket's Stronger Starts scheme.
The local MP recently met with the store manager at Wolverton's superstore to discuss what they are doing to support their in-store colleagues, ongoing community engagement and the importance of town centres.
They are keen to get Milton Keynes schools on board with Stronger Starts which aims to reach 1 million children nationally via the £5.3m scheme by funding food and healthy activities – from breakfast clubs to playground equipment, football kits to gardening classes.
Many people will recognise Tesco's ‘blue token’ community grant scheme which has now been relaunched as Stronger Starts and will provide grants of up to £1,500.
