Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, is encouraging Milton Keynes City Council to sign up to plans from the Conservative Government to help make parking easier across the city.
The National Parking Platform has already been trialled in Manchester and will now be rolled out nationwide so that drivers can use an app of their choice to pay instead of downloading multiple apps.
There will be different launch dates for different areas depending on when current contracts lapse and the platform will be available to authorities, public sector organisations and private parking providers across the UK.
Ben Everitt MP said: "This is a great initiative from the Conservative Government which will help simplify parking and put choice back into the hands of motorists.
"The platform will connects different parking providers to create a single, competitive market that works for the benefit of ordinary people meaning people can use the apps they know and value and innovative providers will find it far easier to enter the market."
