The Government has extended business rates relief for leisure, hospitality and retail following a joint letter from Conservative backbench MPs including Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North.
The 75% rates relief was set to end in April, but the letter organised by Matt Vickers, the chair of the Retail APPG, and signed by dozens of other MPs called on the year-long measure to be extended.
The discount allows businesses to claim relief up to £110,000, saving the average pub £12,800 a year.
Ben Everitt MP said: "I regularly meet with local businesses across my Milton Keynes North constituency and I know how much the rise in costs following the pandemic and Putin's war in Ukraine has affected them so I'm delighted the Chancellor is extending this vital support."
