Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the Conservative Party's commitment to ensuring pensioners will never pay income tax on their State Pension.
The new Triple Lock Plus will cut income tax for pensioners from next year and make sure the state pension is always below their tax free threshold.
As part of the plan, next year the average pensioner will see an increase in the State Pension of £428 and an income tax cut of £95. By the end of the Parliament, the average pensioner will see an increase in the State Pension of £1,677 a year and an income tax cut of £275 a year.
Labour have already confirmed they oppose the plans so under a Labour Government pensioners would be dragged into income tax for the first time.
Ben Everitt MP said: "Conservatives will always make sure pensioners are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. That's why we're pledging to introduce the Triple Lock Plus, on top of other previous support including the Winter Fuel Payments and Cost of Living payments for pensioners."
